Hope & Help

Hope…in Crisis

Is it possible to have hope, even in times of crisis?

Absolutely. There is hope in Christ.

Hope that He will save you no matter what you have done in the past and hope that he will accept you exactly as you are today.

If you have been searching for the unconditional love and hope only God can give, your search can end with one prayer. The Bible teaches us that receiving Jesus Christ is as simple as ABC:

A Accept that you are a sinner. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

B Believe that Christ died to pay the penalty for your sin. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

C Confess Jesus as your Savior and Lord. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. (Romans 10:9-10)

Your prayer can go something like this, “Heavenly Father, I know that I fall short of Your holiness…that I am a sinner. Thank You that You sent Your Son Jesus Christ to die on a cross for my sins and to save me forever. Please forgive me…be my Savior and Lord. Amen.”

If you’ve just prayed that prayer, welcome to the family of God! Life-changing hope in Christ begins today for you.

While there are no cookie-cutter answers on finding hope when life gets hard, there are some things you can do to get a new perspective…and to understand God’s perspective on your trials.

How? A few important specifics…

Know God
Yes, asking God to forgive you in Christ means you can know and relate to God personally and learn to rely on the Giver of strength and hope (Romans 15:13). If you haven’t done that, scroll back to the top and start again, it’s the most important move you’ll make.

Get Help
Don’t try to do this on your own.

Talk with someone who can give you wise counsel. And we’re not talking about just a good friend. Find someone who can really help you figure out how to make it through this crisis and also teach you how to avoid similar situations in the future. A great option is to call a local church and ask them to recommend someone who can give you wise, biblical counseling where you live.

And whether you’re in or out of crisis, you need others–people to connect to, who will walk through life with you and encourage you in God (1 Samuel 23:16). A healthy church, like a healthy family, is His idea, and it’s what we want to be about at Harvest.
